ohGr: Live in Boston

Saw Keivn Ogilvie, aka Nivek Ogre, the frontman of Skinny Puppy last night in his side project band ohGr. It was an awesome show. I was about 6 feet away from him all night. The sound at the Paradise was great, one of the best sounding Orge vocal mixes I've heard live.

The performance was very entertaining, from multiple masks, tons of chicken feathers thrown/blown into the audience, and great music.

I don't have tons of photos, like I usually take, because I was too busy enjoying the show. For those of you who couldn't make it or are just interested, enjoy the few shots that I did take below:

I also was able to shoot some video with my Sony point and shoot (DSC-T9). I have the vids posted on YouTube. Here are a few samples along with the link the them all:

Here's the link to them all: LINK

Please let me know how you like the shots and vids!!! Did you go to the show? What did you think? Do you have pictures or video to share??

Go Go Godzilla- Day 3

Today was go go live for the client! What an awesome day. Super Mega Kudos to everyone for their positive attitudes during the transition from a whiteboard to a digital system for their schedule management!!!

It was a wicked busy day today, but I did take some time to snap a few pictures...

The main entrance @ 7am. Sorry for the blur, but all I had was my tiny Sony cam without a tripod.

The great gift of the day!!!!

The Touch Schedule up and running! Look at everyone smiling ;-)

Shock & Awe

Where I started my evening adventures and where I ended up eating dinner...mmmm chicken parm

Just a cool colonial building

There are 4 large churches of various faiths on top of each other, talk about competition to get into heaven!

Another church

Pretty neat building

I'm happy to report that Fredericksburg has quality street signs, this thing looked almost brand new

An intersection at sunset

Behind yet another church's fence

One of the previous churches with the orange sunset cast upon it

City Hall

Neat wand of Hermes (aka caduceus) upon City Hall

Yet another shot of my pimpin' wheels

I was thinking about photoshoping the 2400 to read 216 and diner as dinners, nothing like "Let's Eat 216 Dinners" LOL

Day 2 in VA

Today was the second day in VA. It was a long day, but pretty exciting. I helped a site replace their whiteboard with a digital Touch Schedule. Good stuff!

My super sweet ride, a 2008 Toyota Yaris. Nothing like having the gray hairs pass you...

Their old fashioned whiteboard

Whiteboard removal

WOOT a 60" Plasma with the HI-IQ schedule

I ended up at Hard Times to have a chicken sandwich with the hottest hot sauce they got, Atomic. Bah, I laugh at your weak insolence.

Until next time.

So many things, so little time...

Hey gang,

Just wanted to give ya'll a shout to let you know that I'm still alive and well.

Here are the things that have kept me really busy lately:

-Just saw The Residents last night in Foxboro, MA: http://www.residents.com/ and http://www.myspace.com/theresidents Pics or movies to come!

-Repo! The Genetic Opera: http://www.repo-opera.com/ and http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0963194/ OMG this is going to be awesome. I've been listening to the soundtrack almost daily for the past week or so.....one word: SWEET!

-taking some pictures of the fall (to be processed and posted soon!)

-the new ohGr CD: http://devilsinmydetails.com/Site/DIMD.html I participated in an online listening party and will be getting my 'one day only' limited t-shirt delivered real soon ;-) From what I've heard the new CD is really good, not Puppy good, different, but good. I'm going to be seeing ohGr at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA in December. It will be a killer show!

-lots of research in the home electronics department. Thinking about getting the Samsung 46" LCD, model LN46A650. So far, this LCD looks the best and has the best price in regards to having the new fangled features, such as ethernet RSS feeds and 120hz refresh rate. We'll see. It's going to be a birthday gift for both me and my wife, as well as an Xmas gift too!

-learning a new programming language, just because! No, seriously, I'm trying to learn http://www.lua.org/ and XML for World of Warcraft programming. So far, it's been really fun! I'll post a few pics and links once I build my very own add-on. I got the programming book from Amazon, but this page gives a better overview

-lots of yard work in preparation for Fall and Winter, I actually just finished laying down the Scott's winter fertilizer, woot!!! Green grass in the winter FTW!!

Well that's it for now.

Holy Heat Batman, Thems Peppers Sure Are HOTTT!

A while back a fellow blogger posted that she successfully had grown some Bhut Jolokia, the hottest pepper in the world (around 1,000,000 Scoville units) , and I had asked for one. Well, today she delivered, actually it was her daughter, and it was time to celebrate. I now have my hands on the hottest pepper known to mankind. So, what did I do with it? I ate it of course, well not all of it ;-)

A GREAT BIG THANKS TO LAYANEE FOR THE SAMPLE!!!!

Let's begin with how hot this pepper really is with a quote from Wikipedia: The full article

One seed from a Naga Jolokia can produce sustained intense pain sensations in the mouth for up to 30 minutes before subsiding. Extreme care should be taken when ingesting the pepper and its seeds, so as to not get it in the eyes. It is used as a cure for stomach ailments. It is also used as a remedy to summer heat, presumably by inducing perspiration. In northeastern India the peppers are smeared on fences or used in smoke bombs as a safety precaution to keep wild elephants at a distance.

How did it taste? AWESOME!! The heat was very mild at first and then it got hot fast, but not intolerable (to me anyways). A coworker (Bob) could only try one intsy piece and he's a chilihead! I had the endmost tip away from the stem, a seed, and some meat where the seeds grow. The tip reminded me of a habanero, the seed was pretty hot, and the meaty section tasted fruity like strawberries then immediatly lit my mouth on fire! It was a good fire. The pepper itself has a really enjoyable and strong taste. The heat reminded my of Dave's Insanity Sauce, but the big difference is: the pepper tastes really good while Dave's sauce is just heat with no flavor!

Here's another great article: click me

Enjoy some pics cause I know you'll never eat em!!!!

A fine specimen

Just around 3 inches in length

The stem & cap with the seeds & meat.

Mmmmmmmmmm!!!

I going to rub these all over someone's keyboard (maybe Bob or Sallie or Brian or Joyce or Emily or....)

iPod Update

Well, I just finished replacing the broken iPod LCD screen with the new. All I can say is WOW! It was very easy to swap out, if you have the tinkering touch I guess. Total procedure took <10 minutes!

Kudos to http://store.ifixipodsfast.com/

Thanks Blake, if you see this!

My Poor Broken iPod

While mowing the lawn this evening I took a gander at my iPod, which was in my front right pocket, and noticed that the screen was WHACKED!!

So, just a little bit ago I started my research as to how I'm going to get this fixed. I found a really cool site that had a how to video describing the LCD replacement steps. It has full narration throughout. I was like, what the hey, Apple doesn't fix broken screens and it's $45 with shipping for the replacement from the site. So, I ordered it, the site is: HERE

I'll give you all an update once the new screen comes in.

Oh ya, just for fun (actually to ensure that I could do it before I ordered a new one) I took my iPod completely apart. Enjoy the pics and pray that your eyepawd doesn't see the same fate....

Completely taken apart, if you look closely you can see the 6 micro screws...they were sure tiny!

The screen after it has been broken, taken apart, and then put back together.

I can't wait for my new screen!!

The Dog Walk

Today our team, 216 Walkers, took our pooches for a walk to benefit The Providence Animal Rescue League of Rhode Island. The walk took place at Roger Williams Park in Providence and was approximately 3.5 miles long! The team did the walk in about 1 hour (even with lots of water and poopie breaks!)

216 Walkers raised $855.00 and overall $39,404 has been raised by 242 people for a great cause.

I'd like to give a HUGE THANKS to all of our family and friends who donated!!!!

Enjoy some pictures (BIG thanks goes to Paul for taking the pics):

Charity Walk

Hi guys,

I have never promoted a charity before. So, here goes my first attempt. Jenga and I will be walking this Saturday to raise some money for some less fortunate animals. If you can donate, that’s cool…if not, that’s cool too…

I wanted to do this sooner, but I’ve been forgetting…

Here is the page: Team 216 Walkers

About the charity:
Providence Animal Rescue League

The Providence Animal Rescue League provides for the rescue and relief of suffering of homeless animals, and performs charitable or benevolent acts for the welfare of animals.

Thanks,
Kevin

Sam Adams Octoberfest 2008 - Boston, MA

Kerri and I headed up to Boston on Friday.  The day was super awesome!  We had lots of fun walking around.  The only thing that wasn't cool was the weather: hot and humid...  Our main purpose was to attend the Sam Adams Octoberfest VIP event at Park Plaza's Castle.  We booked a room right across the street for the night because we knew that there would be lots of beer to be consumed ;p

The Castle at Park Plaza where the night's festivities would be held.

A view from our hotel room...it's still boggles my mind how there are full blown trees growing on rooftops

A church on Newbury Street, coincedentally there was a film crew filming something in the church

A view from a park bench within the Boston Commons

Another shot of the Castle

Woot!! My VIP bracelet for the event

This has got to be my favorite picture of the entire trip.  It's me (on the left) with the founder of Sam Adams beer, Jim Koch (on the right).  Jim was a very nice celeb of sorts.  He gave a toast and then hung around for meets and greets...

Overall this was a super awesome event to attend.  We met a lot of really nice folks and made a few new friends.  The beer was crazy good, straight from the tap and a few limited event only brews were consumed, like Helles and Smoked Dunkel Weiss.  Both were great!!  We can't wail until next year!!!

3rd Beach in Middletown and Blithewold in Bristol

Today we drove along the seaside. I swam around in some super calm water trying to figure out how to do 'laps'... After some swimming and little bit of sunning we found our way to Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, RI.

I have to give our travel planner BABS a great big THANKS for awesome suggestions!!!! (the only thing we didn't do is eat at Quito's. We ended up at India in Warren instead...mmm Vindaloo)

View from the shore...

Waterfall in the Blithewold Gardens (sorry Professor...I couldn't use 2 sec exposure...)

Scary tree & crooked path

More pics to come ;-)
