Before the end....

I'd like to remember a little bit of this year's fine New England weather. Summer will be finished as of September 22, 2008 at 11:44 am EDT, so here is a shot from Spring (aka the beginning). I'll post one from May, June, July, well you get the idea!

A sunny day in April 2008.

Blast From the Past

Having posted a current picture of Jenga recently. I have decided to post a baby picture. She's right around 5 months old in this shot:

Awww, look at how cute she is!! I actually think that she's hiding under the table because she got into something....

The Guardian

Ladies and Gents, I present to you: The ONE! The ONLY! JENGA!!!

Vital Stats:
-Level 6 (dob 3/30/2002)
-Westie (West Highland White Terrier)
-Keeper of the calves (sleeps between my lower legs/feet)
-Master enemy of the silent (she likes to bark at cats, dogs, kids, etc...)
-Super MEGA biscuit muncher (umm..did she chew that?)
-Shao-lin TERROR terrier (ya, she tries to torture little bugs and big dogs!)

So, why did we name our dog 'Jenga'? Well, you see, we planned on naming her 'Jango' after the infamous 'Jango Fett'. But, Jenga, being a she, didn't quite match the male name of Jango, so we feminized (lol is that even a word?) her would be name of Jango to Jenga by adding the 'a'. Needless to say, we totally forgot about Jenga the game!!! Oh well, she doesn't seem to mind =)

Cicadidae

About a week back or so ago I saved my little cicadian friend from drowning in the pool. I happened to have my point and shoot camera and decided to take some pictures. I've never seen a cicada this close and alive. I think he was a little stunned from the chlorine, but he did end up flying away in the end.....

Just a suggestion: these are some pictures you want to click on to enlarge

Help me, help me! You can see the vacuum in the background...that's what I was doing when I found him...and no it isn't my pool =(

Here's looking at you kid

Almost looks like plastic here because I used the flash.

I enjoy this shot a lot, something about the fore and backgrounds

He's worth about 2 cents in length

Hope Furnace (not Godflesh's Locust Furnace)

I've been driving home a new way lately. In doing so I've cruise by a waterfall and a dilapidated mill. For the past few weeks I've been wanting to stop by and take some pics....tonight I did!

Even after all the rain we've been getting this waterfall is quite puny. This shot is also my first attempt at taking longer exposures to smooth out the water....Thanks Professor!!!!!

Another longer exposure shot...look at how creamy and silky smooth the water in distance looks...mmm could you imagine if this was chocolate?

A wide ange view...

Right next to the water is this fine transformer..it looks like it's from another planet; ready to take over the world

More smoothness, dark chocolate perhaps??

Yum...oh wait, its just water; this is a pretty cool shot that I like.

Across the street is the "Kepone Factory", where they're turning people into banzai trees

A zoomed shot...see the banzai trees?

A Fond Farewell

I'd like to wish my friend Dr. DeO a happy and safe journey with his permanent move to Boca Raton. I worked with Doug for a little over 5 years at a local hospital. He taught me some of the coolest things in interventional radiology and I will always appreciate what he shared. He's super talented when dealing with patients and patience.

It was also pretty awesome seeing my friends from the hospital....it's been way too long, I miss you guys!! Drinks on Tuesdays sounds great!! Sure, every Tuesday works ;-)

Greg, his wife Lori(?sp), Linda and Laurie...cheers!!

Maryanne, me and Carol....WOOT!

Me, Doug and Mike....the three amigos.

My 2 bestest IR tech buddies: Lisa and Ange (where's my pink? LOL, you won't catch me dead in pink!)

The great fisherman...come to think of it I've never seen a shot with him and a fish!?!?

I'd like to give a shout out to all my other friends who I haven't seen in a long time and a big thanks to Jim B. and his wife for the digs =)

Company Picnic

Our first Custom Computer Specialists (CCS) company party was today. It was a blast, the weather was perfect and the day's activities rocked!

A little background: recently our company, Unicom, was acquired by CCS, based out of Hauppauge, NY. This was the first company outing where the NY and RI folks had a chance to meet. It was held at a place called the Coleman Country Day Camp in Freeport, NY. Freeport is located on Long Island.

Here are a few shots from the day:

The city from a moving bus, while crossing a bridge to Long Island.

Another moving bus shot of the coastline.

The wonderful bathroom building of the camp. For a laugh: ask any female that attended about the stall size...

The Freeport, NY water tower overlooking the day camp.

S.B. as a judge for the great bake off, YUM! The colors are pretty odd here because we were under a red tent and/or someone slipped something in the molasses cookies...

WOOT a GH contest you say??? Pffft, I pwned 'em!!! Seriously, I scored 1st place for the most points. I played Metallica's One and ended up with 279k!

My buddy Chris and his family/friends getting all fired up for the 'Scavenger Hunt'

Bobby D sitting on the hidden chamberpot behind the scenes while getting his caricature done up.

Ta da! Look at that smile ;-)

A tired Scott looking for the nearest bed...

Overall, it was a fun time. We met a lot of cool folks from CCS and I even ended up winning a matching set of his and hers Citizen watches, SWEET!

Unfortunately none of the Unicom folks won any of the grand prizes. This year's grand prizes were a trip to Aruba, a trip to Mexico, a 42" LCD TV and a new Lenovo notebook. I'm going to win one next year...oh ya I can taste the cerveza now!

NIN: "Lights in the Sky" Postponed

This morning I found out that NIN cancelled their show for tonight. Trent has voice issues. I'm pretty bummed out at the moment, but hey at least we have a rescheduled date! It actually works out for the best though, because I'll be in NY for a company picnic all day tomorrow and it's a 4 hour drive each way starting very ealry in the morning...blah!

Here's the official post taken from http://www.nin.com/

8.08.2008: Worcester show postponed

UPDATED:We regret to announce that due to illness, the Worcester show originally scheduled for Friday, August 8th at the DCU Center has been rescheduled for November 9th. The band is sincerely sorry for the last minute announcement, but unfortunately Trent's recurring throat ailment has left him unable to perform. All tickets purchased for the August 8th concert will be honored on the new date. For those unable to attend the rescheduled date of November 9th, a refund will be available at original point of purchase.

Note from Trent: Hey everyone - Just want to personally say how sorry I am to have to do this. I never take postponing a show lightly and if there were any possible way I could pull this off I would. This is a very frustrating and maddening situation for me and I appreciate your understanding. I'll make it up to you. Thanks

TR

Here's an alien head wishing that Trent gets better and doesn't cancel our Nov. 9th show:

Thank you!!

Thanks guys for the great feedback about the site! I totally dig doing this blog thing. I wish I would've started one sooner. While I find it hard to post everyday, I'm sure that you too find it difficult to visit everyday. I'm going to post as often as I can. So enjoy! All I ask is: please provide some sort of feedback; just so that I know that you're alive out there =)

Here are some replys to my broadcast email (please note that full names are being withheld as to not incriminate my family and friends)

JM: Cool blog

JF: I love the blog!!!! I want to leave a comment but I am unsure how to do it... Do I use "posts" or "all comments" and which do I use.... This is all new to me but fun!!! I love the pics of the fire and the bugs especially... My son in law, what a genius!!!

Amy (wink, wink): I really enjoyed your pics. ...the pictures are absolutely perfect. What a nice way to keep in touch with people and let them know how you are doing.. I will check back often and if you ever have any new stuff, please let me know. I hope your work transition goes well...keep up the great work.Take good care..to you and your family.

BB: I just checked out your blog and it is very cool! I loved the photos of the office move, the color photo of the hot embers…excellent shot (this might be a great shot to submit to a stock agency like Shutterstock)…. and of course the kids …really good shots.
The shots of the tobacco hornworm are outstanding…may I suggest that you email them to the URI master gardener’s website…they might be able to use those excellent photos for education/identification…

I will be checking in on your blog frequently….your photography is improving every day that I see new photos!

MS: That's a great blog!!! Thanks for sending it to me. I will enjoy looking at it!!

MP: Just visited your blog and I enjoyed seeing photos of your extended family. Good Parties!
Your new office is awesome with all its windows. Best of luck in your new digs.
By the way, getting rid of those tomato worms was very wise. They can eat up plants in no time.

PB: Thanks for the blog web site I enjoyed the site and you did incorporate my neighbor's crystal ball.

I have about 20 or so of these stalk mushrooms growing in my mulch. Can anyone help me identify them??

I have about 6 or 7 clusters like this in my back yard's mulch

Didn't do much besides work and run today, so here are a few pics from the past. They were taken in the Conway, New Hampshire area on a family vacation.

W00T!! 1 g0t 4 n3w cub3

(translation of today's title: Yay! I have a new cube.)

The company that I work for moved from Woonsocket to Lincoln (a whopping 5 miles away from our previous location) into new office space. I have the sweetest location because my cube actually has 4 windows. It's my first job where I see the light of day and so far I'm loving it!

I have tons of wires all strewn about and I'm not 100% all settled, but I have my cable management ties all ready to go. I hate wires and limeypumps (that's a different story)...

Outside one of my windows. Thanks to SB for the underwater adventure!
